Encircling the magnolia are twenty white stars, representing Mississippi as the 20th state to join the Union, along with one additional star honouring the Native American tribes of the region. Below the flower, the national motto "In God We Trust" is proudly displayed, reflecting faith and perseverance. The flag is set against a deep blue field, with gold vertical stripes along the hoist and fly ends, symbolising the state's rich cultural heritage and progress.
